About University Governance

Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU) operates under a well-defined governance structure established in accordance with the SBS Act 2021. The university is governed by a Board of Governors, which serves as the supreme decision-making body responsible for policy formulation, strategic planning, and institutional oversight. The Board comprises key stakeholders including the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer, government nominees, academic experts, and industry representatives. The Academic Council functions as the principal academic body, overseeing curriculum development, research standards, and faculty appointments. It is chaired by the Vice Chancellor and includes representatives from all faculties, senior professors, and external academic experts. The university also maintains a transparent governance framework with regular reporting mechanisms, internal audits, and compliance protocols to ensure accountability and academic excellence.
